Host a Jazz & Friends School Reading

First 5 Napa County and Rainbow Action Network would like to encourage all Preschool through 5th grade teachers to host a Jazz & Friends School Reading on Thursday, February 25th.

After a national anti-LGBTQ hate group bullied a young transgender girl in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, her community rallied behind her by hosting a community reading of “I Am Jazz” by transgender advocate Jazz Jennings.

Every year, in honor of the Mount Horeb community’s allyship, communities across the country join HRC’s Welcoming Schools program for its annual Jazz & Friends National Day of School and Community Readings. You can learn more this National Day at the Welcoming Schools website.

We recommend reading When Aidan Became a Brother by Kyle Lukoff for your Jazz & Friends School Reading. You can find activities to go along with the book here.

If you are interested in attending our Community Reading of It’s Ok to Be Different by Todd Parr for children ages 3-6, you can find details here.
